Afrin under occupation (134):
The Turkish presence in Afrin is an occupation, no revival of the 8th and 12th of March, the release of forcibly disappeared persons, the burial of two martyrs in Basuta without the presence of the people
In an advanced European position, and as an international document, the European Parliament condemned in its decision “On the Syrian conflict, 10 years of the uprising” issued on the current March 11th strongly condemned “all atrocities and violations of human rights and international humanitarian law” committed by Turkey, and said: “Turkey has directly intervened in Syria since 2016 to occupy the northern parts, which mostly consist of Syrian Kurdish areas, in violation of international law including the invasion of the territories controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces in October 2019, ”and called“ Turkey to withdraw its forces from northern Syria that it occupies illegally outside the scope of any mandate from the United Nations, ”and condemned“ Turkey’s illegal operations to arrest and transfer the Syrian Kurds from occupied northern Syria to Turkey for detention and prosecution in violation of Turkey’s international obligations under the Geneva Conventions, ”it urged „the immediate return of all Syrian detainees who were transferred to Turkey to the occupied territories in Syria,” and added that the European Parliament „is concerned that the ongoing displacement operations, may amount to ethnic cleansing against the Syrian Kurdish population, ” Turkey’s use of Syrian mercenaries in the conflicts in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, in violation of international law, ”in confirmation of what we published three years ago, along with thousands of other reports, that Turkey violated Article 51 of the United Nations Charter and violated international humanitarian law, and took Systematic hostile policies that participated and supervised the practice of violations and crimes committed by the pro-Turkish Syrian terrorist militia against the Kurds in Syria and the demographic change in their region, and in accordance with Article 42 of the Hague Agreement 1907 AD, Turkey is considered an occupying power for the Afrin region and others in northern Syria.
Yesterday, March 12 coincided with the anniversary of the Qamishlo uprising in 2004 AD, and it was usual for the people of Afrin to revive that painful memory at least by visiting the graves of their martyrs, but the Turkish occupation destroyed their graves three years ago, and the mercenaries continue to destroy the graves of their dead, and no one dares To revive this occasion in any way, despite the fact that the Syrian Brotherhood Alliance boasted this year to issue a statement on the occasion.
The same applies to International Women’s Day March 8, as its revival in Afrin was an occasion to honor and support women and defend their cause, but with the presence of the Turkish army and extremist Islamic militias associated with the Syrian Brotherhood and their invasion of the region three years ago, severe restrictions were imposed on women, in addition to detention and persecution. And restrictions on her freedom in many forms, and there is no longer a so-called Women’s Day.
Here are some of the violations:
= The Turkish occupation authorities in Afrin recently released a number of Kurdish detainees:
– Dr. “Riyad Manla”, from the village of “Joqe”, who was forcibly disappeared since September 2018, on 3/7/2021 in the Carnival method, in an attempt to polish the militia’s face.
– The young Taher Manla Muhammad son of Abdul Manan from the village of Joqe, who has been forcibly hidden since September 2018.
– Citizen Rifat Murad from the village of Korka – Mabata / Mabatli, after spending more than two and a half years hiding in a prison in the town of Marea – north of Aleppo.
– The young Abdo Othman son of Khalil from the village of Chulaqa – Jenderes, who has been forcibly hidden since June 2018, and seized his real estate office on Villas Street in Afrin at the time, after paying a ransom of $ 800.
In addition, the families of all forcibly disappeared detainees who are transferred to Marate Prison in Afrin in preparation for their release are blackmailed by paying amounts (1500-2000) US dollars, except for the amount paid to the court as a fine (1000-2000) Turkish liras, through militia mediators or lawyers and brokers associated with the occupation judges, under the pretext of speeding up the release of the detainee and appointing a lawyer while alerting the family to the confidentiality of the matter.
= Youth and sports activities abound in Afrin, under the supervision of representatives of specialized Turkish institutions, and the basic condition is that the Turkish flag be raised high in it.
= During the past month, militia gunmen stole about twenty large copper vessels from the homes of the indigenous people in the town of Baadina, by infiltrating the basements and warehouses of the houses at night, at a time when the owners do not dare to leave their rooms in fear for their lives, as no one Indigenous people carries any type of individual protection weapon.
= In a village in Rajo district, while a citizen – the only remaining member of his family – was busy with the funeral of his deceased wife and mourning tent for three days, militia gunmen stole much of his home’s contents.
Returning to the bombing of the house of the late “Sherif Qassem” in the village of Basuta on 02/23/2021 AD, which led to the killing of the two martyrs, “Haifa Sharif Qassem, 21,” and her relative, Nawzat Akram Tobal, 45, ” as their bodies were not handed over to their families, the occupation militia with the presence of the turkish intelligence buried them in the village cemetery on Saturday 3/6/2021 AD, without allowing any of people to attend, and despite the tragedy that affected their families, the militias completely seized and looted their homes, as well as a shop (washing and kumji cars “belonging to the citizen” Omid, brother of the martyr Nozat “wife.
The mother, and wife of Omid and her sister are still under arbitrary detention since the day of the bombing, in addition to being severely tortured along with dozens of detainees who were released in a row.
What can do justice to the people of Afrin and cheer their hearts, is for the governments of the European Union countries to translate the contents of the decision of their joint parliament into policies and actions, to compel Turkey to end its occupation presence in the region and to cease its support and coverage of the Syrian terrorist militias that perpetrate atrocities daily.
